The first time I heard the word Donga was in a small place called Balgo Hills in Western Australia. Out there, a donga is a portable room that becomes a home. I lived in one with my mate Scotty for about a year. It was simple and solid, but it held stories, laughter, and the kind of comfort you never forget.

Growing up in South Auckland, the barbershop always felt the same way. It was the place where men showed up as themselves. It was where we talked, laughed, shared our wins and our struggles, and walked out feeling lighter.

That is why I created The Donga. I wanted to bring those two worlds together. A place that feels like home. A place rooted in brotherhood. A place where you are seen and welcomed.

Every chair has a story. Every cut comes with connection. Every visit reminds us why we need each other.
